PRP Therapy

PRP, Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy, uses a high concentration of platelets from either the patient or a donor to regenerate cells. The Lipogems procedure involves collecting, concentrating, and transferring a patient's fat, or adipose tissue, into a problem area (i.e. joints, tendons, ligaments, muscles). Several reparative characteristics in adipose tissue promote healing throughout the body. It is an excellent way to repair and replace injured or damaged tissue. Fat is the highest quality tissue with 100-500 times more reparative cells than similar tissue. Harvesting adipose tissue is far less painful than harvesting bone marrow. Still, research has also shown that adipose tissue is superior to bone marrow because fat maintains its reparative properties as a person ages. Harvesting fat is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure that can be performed in approximately one hour. Patients typically start noticing pain relief and increased function 2-8 weeks following the procedure.
